TIVERTON, RI - January 28, 2011 - Humphrey's Building Supply Center is now stocking United States Gypsum's (USG) Sheetrock® Brand UltraLight Panels which are up to 30 percent lighter per sheet than standard drywall panels..
The innovative drywall product measuring ½ inch thick is now available in 4' x 8' sheets at Humphrey's flagship location, 590 Main Road, Tiverton, RI.
An in-store display featuring a panel of Sheetrock®UltraLight and a standard panel is available for visitors to lift and compare the weight of each. One 4' x 8' x ½ " sheet of Sheetrock® UltraLight weighs about 39lbs while a sheet of standard drywall weighs about 55lbs.
USG's Sheetrock®UltraLight Panels are the first reduced weight gypsum wallboard, marking a significant development for both the drywall and the building materials industries. Reducing the heavy weight of the frequently cumbersome panels presents a welcomed relief among drywall and building professionals especially those who carry, lift and install boards daily.
Engineered with revolutionary technology and a new formulation, each USG Sheetrock® UltraLight Panel offers uncompromised product strength and performance despite the significant weight reduction.
USG's Sheetrock® UltraLight Panels are approved for use where traditional ½" thick drywall is required. Currently, USG is only manufacturing it with a ½" thickness as part of its initial rollout of the new product. Eventually, USG will extend its new lighter weight technology to additional sizes and products.
